Properties Unsuitable for Thermal Cladding
Whilst in theory every solid wall home in the UK should have external thermal cladding fitted in order to cut heat loss and emissions it is not always practical nor effective. The style and external design of some 1920′s and 1930′s homes cannot be reasonably insulated from the outside as in the property below:
Hardly any external wall exposed
Amount of glazing wipes out any thermal gains from externally cladding properties such as this on the front elevation.
Better to insulate the side wall only to achieve any decent energy saving payback.
This also maintains the aesthetics and value of the period look, especially important for semi detached homes mirroring next door.
